Verdant tropical paintings on silk

Panther Chameleon by Beth Surdut

29.5" x 36" framed silk painting

A Panther Chameleon perches in a Banyan tree with red Skeleton hibiscus and green Monstera leaves. Belying the names, I think of rainbows when I see this adorable lizard, lace when I see these hibiscus flowers, and impressively large leaves on the vine. The frame is subtle  with mottled tones of silver, with a soft white parchment mat and matching silver fillet. Under glass.

    Burrowing owl

     Last chance to see Uncovering the 5Cs of Arizona  exhibit until mid October at the Flinn Foundation in Phoenix!  

      

    As I started to zoom in on this owl who is the size of my hand, I realized that in one frame I could tell a visually layered story of Arizona including wildlife, cotton, trucks and trains that carry the harvest, and the mountains and expansive skies of this beautiful state.
